What are the latest achievements it has overseen? Massive bailouts of banksters and their masters, far greater financial and economic instability, the changing of ever larger proportions of peoples into serfs, the subornation and reversal of democracy, and the accelerating destruction of environmental capital.

I hope it is not too late to learn.

http://www.alternet.org/
http://www.commondreams.org/
http://www.counterpunch.org/
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/semuanya OK kotnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5014075006969917149.post-10398959489450664902011-03-16T19:42:02.502+08:002011-03-16T19:42:02.502+08:002/2
There has been so much focus on big entities ...2/2

There has been so much focus on big entities and big projects the smaller ones which are supposed to be the final beneficiaries of everything have not been given more than lipservice.

So we can construct buildings, roads, bridges, flyovers and oil rigs, small boats, motorcars and armored carriers.

And then we hope that there will be real multipliers when money is pumped into such big ticket projects.

But sometimes when we look at the size of the money pumped in against what anyone can find out about lower prices in similar project elsewhere to the same scoping, we wonder if there is anything really serious being done about economic efficiency beyond crony-spin. We should not be pooh-poohed for harboring such nefarious doubts because in the end everybody will be paying for the extras whose benefits they will not be receiving.

So we see procedures being implemented to save a sen here and a ringgit there when just one such black-box project will be blasting billion ringgit holes in the mice-gnawed pockets of millions.

The peoples who make up the systems and enterprises will be the ones finally passed the baton to pick up the tab.
..................................

The japanese pay careful and sustained attention to all minute details. They stay completely focused on all key factors that will enhance their products, competitive standing, and future pipeline. They invest in education, research, new ideas and development of their artistic and color-form-touch refinements in the domain of modern appliances and other products. Because they are land and resource poor, they are good miniaturists and bloodless negotiators for the raw materials of other sleepier races. They use their pragmatism to pierce their own fatalism and then appear on the other side of the veil as fastidious perfectionists. They are numerically inclined, and are relentless accumulators of information, as well as sumo wrestlers in the marketing sphere. Somehow they can telekinetically connect to others but only those of their own race. Perhaps these are the parameters for their technology-borne economic miracle, one of the most interesting revivals in history.

...............................

scroll down:

http://is.gd/k1dey9wallahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17580252352785040456noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5014075006969917149.post-76662446398354748572011-03-16T19:41:47.645+08:002011-03-16T19:41:47.645+08:00Systems and enterprises seem to be imagined as ent...Systems and enterprises seem to be imagined as entities separate from the people who make them work.

If in propping the former by crony-spin results in market distortions which cause the latter to suffer, then people will become overly cautious or pack up and leave spiraling all downwards into a vicious cycle.
..............................

What has changed for our country?

Some of the old-day link shoplots have been given a more modern design. Instead of the arcane curves and odd props, brighter colors are used in coordination with more metal-and-glass.

But are the activities inside any of them much different from what were done in yonder days?

Save for use of office automation devices and some modern-day processes, the actual start-to-finish chain remains essentially the same.

To break out of this mold requires a different set of thinking methods.

..................................

What is it we can design and make really well?

We are not exactly an inventive lot. Maybe it's because the ecosystem has not been honestly primed to maximally tap and release innate creativity.

We tinker a bit at the lower end of microelectronics. We make garments, furniture, shoes, car parts, building materials and we process seafood, white coffee and some agro and oleo products.

Most of our enterprises are in services. This could mean foot massage centers, hair salons, coffee shops, motor repair shops, boutiques, computer sales, billboards suppliers, mini-marts and of course the prolific structure of government departments.

What about local services? We do what needs to be done but one is never too sure whether the things done are really relevant or done with economic efficiency and/or the remotest input of real and progessible know-how.

It would be fascinating to imagine the country at 2020...how it will look and what its people will be doing.
..................................wallahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17580252352785040456noreply@blogger.com
